Medicine Buddha Retreat

Over the course of this retreat the Venerable Lobsang Tendar will teach healing mantras that Tibetans have traditionally used to heal illness. We learn to view disease and also accidental illness in a new way. Mantra Healing uses ancient sounds to cut through and change energy.

Venerable Lobsang Tendar will teach practical remedies that will help you live a more positive and fulfilling life. Tibetan Buddhism is for all peoples from all walks of life both Buddhist and non-Buddhists. Tibetan Buddhism is a universal blessing and everyone is welcome.

Manjushri - Buddha of Wisdom Retreat

Manjushri is said to have the power of discriminating wisdom. He can discriminate between correct and incorrect views and between beneficial and non-beneficial actions that must be taken on one's spiritual path. He holds a sword that vanquishes ignorance. Manjushri's sword is also considered a sword of quick detachment and a symbol of enlightened will.

Avalokiteshvara - Buddha Of Compassion Retreat

Reciting the Vajrasattva mantra is used for purification. It is said that with correct practice, profound cleansing occurs. By Repeating this practice major misdeeds will not be repeated and minor ones will be eventually purified.

The essential message of this practice is: "Abandon all harmful deeds; perform wholesome ones".

Amitabha - Buddha of Light Retreat

Amitabha the Buddha of Light, was once a monk named Dharmakara (being formerly a king who renounced his throne after experiencing the Buddhist teachings of the buddha Lokesvararaja).

Dharmakara resolved to become a buddha and through his efforts after several incarnations, became Amitabha Buddha who created the "Pure Land" called Sukhavati (Sanskrit: "possessing happiness"). By the power of his vows, Amitabha has made it possible for all who call upon him to be reborn into this land and there to undergo instruction by him in the dharma and ultimately become bodhisattvas and buddhas in their turn. Thereafter, these same bodhisattvas and buddhas return to our world to help yet more people.

What participants of past retreats have to say ...
[Top]

I attended the Chenrezig retreat held at Iluka in March (2006). This was my first residential retreat and my experience of the weekend was immense. I was very fortunate to be able to attend a week long (daily) retreat with my Yoga teacher prior to the weekend and I feel that this helped me prepare for the intensity and strength of Tendar's retreat.

Tendar's presence, knowledge and teaching is something that no words can give justice to and it seems futile to try and describe. Suffice to say that the safe haven he created allowed me and others to look at ourselves honestly with openness and compassion. This at times was incredibly painful and confronting however, with the compassion of Chenrezig with me I felt able to undertake this examination.

I made valuable connections with a number of people attending the retreat and I intend to nurture these friendships with love and compassion. How privileged I feel to have been a part of this weekend and even though I live quite some distance away, I have deep respect and feelings for the sense of community created.

I was very priviledged and honoured to participate in the last retreat at Shoreham - my thanks go to Tendar and Sheryl for making it possible - I helped set up and saw the amazing transformation of the space and I felt myself transformed also by Tendar's energy and grace - I felt myself softening and letting go into the heart and enjoying just being in the presence of a true master.

kind regards, and best wishes - Linda

Tendar works from the Heart in all he speaks, his actions, teaching from the mind and spiritually towards all he meets. I have been honoured to have gentle healing and feel blessed to have been offered such a treasure. What a gift we all have in having this man in our presence in Australia. To learn so many healing tools from this gifted person will flow through all who have encountered being with this sacred spirit. Thankyou and Blessings to you Tendar from my heart to your heart,
