TENDAR'S TEACHERS & TEACHINGS
In western culture, teaching and healing are often seen as two distinct applications of knowledge, whereas in Buddhist practice such distinctions dissolve. The mind is itself the source of much sorrow and illness, which may be healed when we learn to apply the Buddha's compassion to others and to ourselves.

In October 2007, Tendar received news from India that his teacher Samten Tharchen had passed away. Samten passed into the bardo peacefully. Tendar asks that people not feel sad, as Samten passed on with clear mind. One day he was not feeling well and the next day he was gone.
Samten Tharchen left Tibet in 1959, at the same time as HH The Dalai Lama took exile in India. Samten Tharchen became Tendar's teacher in 1989 when Tendar was also exiled to India in Tenzin Gang for 14 years and then in the Ramoche Monastery near Dharmsala.
Samten Tharchen was a well respected teacher and healer who had recently returned to his beloved Tibet for one year to teach. We are grateful he was such a wonderful teacher to Tendar!
